The nationally revered real estate business owned and operated by Dane and Kym Atherton is celebrating its tenth anniversary, coinciding with a new milestone of $2billion in sales for the 2021 financial year.
Harcourts Coastal started with just three staff and is today home to 135 professionals who together sell 40 per cent more real estate than any other agency in the Gold Coast region.
The business has been thrice named Queensland real estate agency of the year, and has held the title of Harcourts Australia’s number one agency for six years. Dane and Kym founded Harcourts Coastal at Broadbeach in 2011.
“We started Harcourts Coastal in the post-GFC market where the general sentiment across our industry was quite negative, with staff cutbacks and a slumping market. We deliberately set out to create positive impacts for anyone who joined our team, which then comprised only three people,” Mr Atherton explains.
“Our philosophy has always been that our primary client is the team. Our events, our training and our culture are precious commodities. These assets are our focus. That feeling and culture in our team, in turn, shapes how we care for our sellers, buyers, landlords and tenants.”
CEO of Harcourts Australia, Marcus Williams, says Dane is a young man with enormous talent who has created an incomparable empire in the real estate sector.
“There would be only a handful of businesses in Australia who sell anywhere near $2billion a year in property. I remember celebrating when Harcourts Coastal achieved the milestones of $1billion, it pales in comparison today,” Mr Williams said.
“The team also has an exceptional reputation with landlords and tenants, managing an enormous number of investment properties, some 1350.”
“Dane is titled as Queensland’s best auctioneer and has directly assisted over 8,000 Queenslanders to achieve their goals through property.”
“For the real estate industry in Australia, this man is a rare alchemy of energy and experience. His talent in the development of people has seen him attract and develop some of the sharpest agents in the nation.
“To achieve ten years of continuous growth, across such a sizable team of professionals, without losing sight of the philosophy and ambition is a testament to their values,” Mr Williams said.
Even as recently as today, Harcourts Coastal closed a high-profile auction campaign for The Palms, a designer home in Burleigh Heads, achieving a record price for a dry block of $3.75million.
Last month the team also set a new Queensland residential record with the $15.25million sale of the luxury Soul penthouse. The four-level sky home achieved the highest price at auction for a residential property in the state.
“Whether you join our team as an agent or client, at Harcourts Coastal we are better together,” Mr Atherton said.
