In a time where it has never been more important to pull together as a community, there’s one industry leader that has taken it upon themselves to keep local sentiment and positivity high.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic that has engulfed us all, Harcourts Business Owner, Nathan O’Neill and the team at Harcourts Noosa decided it was time to give something back to the region that has not only given so much to them, but one that relies heavily on the tourism dollar that all but dried up almost overnight.
As a result - Harcourts Noosa TV was born.
Designed to be something a little different to, in Mr O’Neill’s own words, “another real estate agent promoting themselves”, Harcourts Noosa TV is a community showcase aimed at promoting the area as a whole and the local businesses that operate within it.
“With everything that’s gone on this year, we really wanted to get out and support our local area with a new initiative,” Mr O’Neill explained.
“This really isn’t about us, it’s about giving back. Profiling the area and sharing the important message that this is an amazing place to live, shop, holiday or visit.”
Mr O’Neill said that it was imperative to him that the videos were not seen as real estate promotional tools, that’s why the decision was made to remove he and his team from on camera roles and to hire professional presenters to ensure the product was independent.
“We see a lot of people promoting themselves in these types of videos, but I believe part of our job is to sell the area and support the people that are in it,” he said.
“We really want to add value to our community and show off the great things we have here - having independent presenters come in and really promote the area has enabled us to do that.”
Mr O’Neill said the response from business owners, locals and those outside of Noosa had been amazing, with each video averaging over 10,000 views to date.
“One of the main things that resonated with us when this came up in conversation was one of our (Harcourts) core values of ‘people first’. That’s why we did. It’s been about the community, it’s not a gimmick, it’s not about us, it’s about doing something for everyone and doing it right.”
Harcourts Queensland CEO, Jonathan King said it was a testament to the character and great respect Mr O’Neill and his team have for the greater Noosa region that Harcourts Noosa TV had become such a success.
“This is such a brilliant vehicle of positivity for a place that has undoubtedly felt the affects of the current climate throughout their businesses, community organisations and general way of life,” Mr King said.
“For Nathan to develop such a concept with the ‘people first’ mentality with which this was derived, really speaks to his dedication to and love for Noosa, its people and places.”
