With a slither of light beginning to appear at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel, leading national real estate franchise network Harcourts Group Australia supports the Australian Government’s new COVIDSafe app.
“Harcourts is committed to providing the same high level of real estate service to our clients and doing it safely and responsibly,” said Mike Green, Harcourts International, Executive Director Operations.
“We are committed to doing all that we can as an organisation to protect our team and our clients, and to support the government as they navigate through the current challenges. This seems like a very simple thing that we can all do to save lives, livelihoods and assist in a return to the regular way of life we all enjoy.”
According to the Australian Government Department of Health, the app utilises a ‘bluetooth handshake’ of users phones, to find close contacts of COVID-19 cases and enable health officials to quickly contact people who may have been exposed to coronavirus.
“The new app may speed up the process of contacting those who may have been in contact with COVID-19 and will hopefully get us closer to something that resembles a normal lifestyle,” Mr Green said.
“I understand that some people have concerns about privacy but there is no geocode functionality so your location is not known, it simply uses a Bluetooth handshake to identify others you have been in contact with. And while I encourage everyone to download the app, at the end of the day, it is ultimately optional.”
