Harcourts Takes Out Top Honours at REIQ Awards

At the gala 2018 Real Estate Institute Awards for Excellence, two Harcourts franchisee offices took out Residential Agency of the Year awards. Harcourts Coastal was named Large Residential Agency of the Year and Harcourts Kingsberry Named Regional Residential Agency of the Year.

Based on the Gold Coast with three offices in Broadbeach, Paradise Point and Hope Island, Harcourts Coastal is owned by Dane & Kym Atherton, while Harcourts Kingsberry, owned by Ben Kingsberry, serves the regional market of Townsville.

Harcourts Queensland CEO Brendan Whipps said that the recognition underlines the calibre of both office teams. “Day in and day out both Dane’s and Ben’s teams work tirelessly to achieve success for their clients. They represent the best in the business and the recognition by the REIQ is absolutely deserving.”

Large Residential Agency of the Year

Dane Atherton said that winning the award is meaningful as a team effort. “To be recognised by our industry institute as the top against all other real estate brands is humbling,” he said. “Kym and I have a great team across sales, property management and administration, and all are really great people. I’m proud of how they work together as a team and help make Harcourts Coastal the best experience in real estate.”

This is the second time the agency has taken out the top award, the first in 2016, while it has consistently placed well in the top agency and top agent categories across the Harcourts network of 400-plus offices.

The Harcourts Coastal group is set to expand next month when Mr Atherton joins James Massey as partners in the soon to be opened Harcourts Coastal Robina office.

Regional Residential Agency of the Year

For Ben Kingsberry, the second generation of Harcourts Kingsberry ownership, taking home The REIQ Award for Excellence Regional Residential Agency of the Year is recognition for the Townsville agency after years of hard work.

“Being recognised by Queensland’s most respected real estate institutions as regional Queensland’s highest performing agency is something that all of us here at Kingsberry Harcourts are very proud to have achieved,” he said.

Mr Kingsberry went on to explain that his office has family values at its foundation and has grown with their dedication and leadership to what it is today.

Harcourts was named a REIQ Awards for Excellence Finalist in seven categories, the most nominations of any real estate brand, including Community Service Award – Harcourts Solutions Group; Innovation Award – Harcourts Queensland; and Ben Knight, Harcourts Solutions Group –Rookie of the Year.

REIQ Awards for Excellence hosted more than 700 real estate professionals recognise the elite in their field at the Brisbane Royal International Convention Centre on 3 March.

The Awards also celebrated the REIQ’s centennial birthday, marking 100 years of shaping the Queensland real estate profession.
