This year The Harcourts Foundation, the charitable arm of Australian real estate group, Harcourts, has granted over $130,000 in funds to charities who help and support those affected by domestic and family violence.
The amount was raised through donations, workplace giving and also through Harcourts offices giving a percentage of their sales commissions to The Harcourts Foundation.
A huge percentage of the funds were raised in the lead up to The Harcourts Foundation and White Ribbon event, Walk a Mile in Their Shoes held on 8 May this year.
The event, held in most capital cities attracted hundreds of walkers on the day, raising awareness of this important issue, with over $116,000 in donations raised.
Julia Eyles, Harcourts Foundation Coordinator says whilst many local charities benefit from grants from The Harcourts Foundation, this year domestic violence has been a clear community focus.
“This year, it’s been clear that our communities are growing increasingly aware of the damage domestic violence has on its victims, and how far reaching these affects are.
“The Harcourts Foundation has been very proud to help support those charities and groups across Australia who are really making a difference in this space”, says Ms Eyles.
This year has seen The Harcourts Foundation give back to White Ribbon, the Caboolture Regional Domestic Violence Service, Second Chance and the Migrant Resource Centre.
