Harcourts has been named in Real Estate Business’ Women in Real Estate Awards list of honourees for 2019 in three categories – Women’s Community Program of the Year for Inspirational Women founded by Irene Green, Principal of the Year – Metropolitan, to Kate Smith of Harcourts Smith (South Australia), and Sales Agent of the Year – Regional, to Kim Durrand of Harcourts Warragul (Victoria).
The Women in Real Estate Awards, the first national awards program to recognise the contribution of women in real estate, is dedicated to recognising excellence among the industry’s top female professionals and companies that promote gender diversity and a commitment to the progression of women.
Founder of Inspirational Women, Irene Green (photo left) appeared on the Elite Agent list of industry influencers for 2018 for improving industry standards in training and her encouragement of women in real estate. Mrs Green continues to lead this initiative building confidence in women, helping them step to the speaking podium and share their value to the industry and beyond.
“I’m honoured to have our Inspirational Women events acknowledged by the industry and our peers,” said Mrs Green, Director of Professional Development, Harcourts International. “We began Inspirational Women to encourage real women to have courage and see the value in telling their real-life stories to help others.”
Inspirational Women operates in four countries with 11 ambassadors driving and supporting the program.
“Never one to exclude anyone purely based on their gender I declined frequent requests over the years to head up a ‘women’s group’ within the real estate industry,” continued Mrs Green. “It is important to me that he Inspirational Women program remains inclusive of all people regardless of gender, race or age. That we continue to include all real estate companies, our business partners and associates plus welcome their friends and families.”
The global real estate franchise network operates in nine countries, with Harcourts sharing a proud multicultural team that is comprised of 61% women.
For Kim Durrand, the nomination for Sales Agent of the Year – Regional comes on the heels of a slew of awards in the Harcourts Victoria state annual awards, including Top Listing Agent and rank of number five sales consultant. Her office, Harcourts Warragul, won 15 state awards, including the Client Experience Award, which is based on client reviews.
Although Kate Smith (photo right) of Harcourts Smith is a newcomer to the Harcourts family, she has been a consistent top-performer in the industry, specifically in her community of Semaphore, South Australia where she regularly transacts well over 100 transactions per year. Recognised by REISA as a top achiever, Ms Smith joined Harcourts in May 2019.
The finalist list features over 180 high-achieving real estate professionals across 27 categories.
REB editor Tim Neary said that the REB Women in Real Estate Awards is designed to show REB’s support for the women in Australian real estate.
“The awards are a necessary new initiative to celebrate and recognise the female leaders, role models and future champions of the industry and to join the campaign for a more gender-balanced world,” Mr Neary said.
“Harcourts’s recognition for its excellent contribution to the Australia real estate industry reinforces the strength of the brand in connecting with the community and engaging with its customers.”
